FAQ
Why hemlock and cypress wood?
By nature, these two types of wood are structurally stable and hardy enough to withstand the test of time (or 40 weddings a year :)). Each plank is aesthetically unique with an intricate and sculpted face. Its normal course and uneven texture is sanded smooth to the touch without sacrificing the deep grains. The way light + shadow catch and play on the contoured surface is one of our favorite characteristics of this dynamic wood and why we chose to use this species for our farmhouse tables.
Why CHESTNUT wood?
American chestnut trees have been extinct for decades which make this wood a true delicacy. You can only find chestnut wood used in homes that were built before 1933. So, getting your hands on this beautiful variety of wood is no easy feat. Our goal? Save the chestnut wood and restore it to something that will live on for decades to come.
Why reclaimed wood vs. new?
Have you heard how difficult it is to work with reclaimed wood vs. new? Do you think we’re crazy? We’re not. There’s definitely a reason we choose reclaimed! We choose to use reclaimed wood vs. store-bought because patience is a virtue, and in the end, nature has a story to tell. On average reclaimed trees live 100-200 years before being harvested (vs. a premature 40 years for new wood). When you give wood more time, there is an irreplaceable sense of character that you just can’t replicate. Have you ever looked at a slice of wood? Have you ever heard that if you count the rings it will tell you how old a tree is? When you mill an old tree you will see the rings are tightly wound and that is something only time can buy.

I don’t have a wedding planner; will you help design the dinner space?
We are here to give you our table dimensions and confirm whether or not spacing will be an issue. Beyond that, we’d be delighted to give you our list of preferred wedding planners (the kind with a tasteful eye who can dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s ;))
